THE SEASON

The adventure begins after the events of The Empire Strikes Back and before Return of the Jedi and follows a family of scavengers (voiced by VANESSA LENGIES, NICOLAS CANTU and EUGENE BYRD) who build and sell starships from battle debris strewn throughout the galaxy. When their youngest (CANTU) discovers a natural connection with the Force through an ancient artifact–the Kyber Saber–his world is turned upside down, and he and his family are thrown into an epic struggle against the Empire to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy. The Freemakers explore new worlds, meet new and familiar characters and learn the meaning of family.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.0/5

This 2-disc release comes in a box and a magnet.

The Freemaker Adventures: Meet the Freemaker Family (2:21; HD) introduces us to the main characters, and voice actors, of this new series.

Freemaker Salvage and Repair (1:02; HD) – Here we get a tour of the shop run by the Freemakers.

VIDEO – 4.25/5

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures arrives on Blu-ray presented in its originally televised 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. This more or less looks like any other computer-generated animated feature with bright colors and decent levels of detail with the occasional instances of transitional banding.

AUDIO – 3.5/5

For whatever reason, each episode comes with a standard Dolby Digital 5.1 yet it still sounds pretty good providing for crisp and clear dialogue levels however when the action picks up, that’s when I wish these had lossless audio as these lack depth.

OVERALL – 3.75/5

Overall, LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures: Complete Season One is another fun show from Buena Vista utilizing the Star Wars history and putting a comedic twist. The plots are genuinely entertaining and voice casting well done making for a show both kids and adults will enjoy. The Blu-ray release is rather basic in terms of features but the video is good and audio above average.
